The Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals Board credentials chemical dependency counselors and prevention specialists in the state of Ohio. These professionals are required to obtain continuing education hours for initial application and renewal of their credential in various content areas.

Professionals renew their credential every two years and are required to verify 40 hours of continuing education.

RCHs are Recognized Clock Hours that have been approved by the Board for use by applicants and professionals toward their credentialing process. The Board awards a Program Identification Number (PID#) along with the number of RCHs to be awarded for course completion.

Training that is appropriate for chemical dependency counselors may not always be appropriate for the prevention field, and the reverse is also true. Therefore, the Board assigns each program with a letter designating approval for CD specific hours (C), prevention hours (P), clinical supervisory hours (S), diagnostic hours (D) and field related hours (R). The letter designation is placed behind our PID number and assists the you in determining which courses are appropriate for your credential.
